BS in math from Carnegie-Mellon, MA in educational measurement from Univ. MD, PhD in psychology from UNC. Then they left the door open in the statistics department at Virginia Tech and I wandered in. Retired 7 years ago after 34 years as a professor of statistics.

2 children, 6 grandchildren. We challenge anyone for the prize for strangest grandkid names: Trey Augustus, Phineas Chastain, Keeley Lalia, Ruby Adaline, Leighton Holst, Beckett ‘Ohana. Really.

Married for 25 years to Debby Hix, who recently retired as a senior research scientist in the computer science department at VT. Debby loves to travel; me, not so much. So we compromised - we’ve been everywhere. Picture below taken in Prague this past summer.

When not traveling, I spend my time reading stories to preschoolers and playing bridge. Life is good.
